Connect ChatGPT or Claude to WhatsApp
WAIA Connect has an MCP server: paste an address into your AI, sign in with Google, and your AI shows you how your account is doing, explains what's failing, sets up webhooks and templates with your confirmation and writes the integration code for you. It's for administration, not messages: it never reads them. Included in every plan and in the free trial.
What an MCP is
A plug that gives your AI access to your Connect account to manage it: it sees how it's doing, explains what's failing, sets it up with your confirmation and writes the code for you. It never reads your messages. It's an open standard (Model Context Protocol) that Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and VS Code already speak: nothing to install.
What your AI can do
- See your account: plan, trial, usage and limits.
- See your numbers with their Meta status, quality and messaging limit.
- Check your webhooks and recent deliveries, and explain why one is failing.
- See your templates and why Meta rejected one.
- Explain an API error and write the code for your stack.
- Before you connect a number, check what usually makes the signup fail.
- With your confirmation: create, edit, test or delete webhooks; create a template and submit it to Meta for review; send a test message to your own numbers or your test phones; rotate the API key.
Every change has two steps: your AI prepares it and shows you what it will do, and only applies it when you say yes (the confirmation expires after 5 minutes). Changes are confirmed by the owner or an admin; with a member role, the AI only looks. There are daily caps (for example, 10 test messages), and the new API key is never given to the AI: you see it once in the dashboard.
What it can't do
- Read your messages or your contacts' messages.
- Write to your customers: the only message it sends is the test one, to your numbers.
- Connect a number in Meta: you do that, with the «Connect number» button.
- Pay or change your plan.
How to connect it
The server address:
https://api.waiaconnect.com/mcp/admin- Claude: claude.ai › Settings › Connectors › «Add custom connector»: name «WAIA Connect» and the address. Connect, sign in with Google and choose the numbers.
- ChatGPT: chatgpt.com › Settings › Apps › Advanced › developer mode › «Create app»: name, the address and OAuth. Sign in with Google and choose the numbers.
- Cursor: Settings › Tools & MCP › New MCP Server, and in the file:
{"mcpServers":{"waia-connect":{"url":"https://api.waiaconnect.com/mcp/admin"}}}. «Connect» and sign in with Google. - VS Code: «MCP: Open User Configuration» and:
{"servers":{"waia-connect":{"type":"http","url":"https://api.waiaconnect.com/mcp/admin"}}}. «Start» and sign in with Google. - Others (Gemini, Lovable, Bolt, Windsurf, a terminal): Create an MCP token in the dashboard (AI connections › MCP token) and add the server with the address and the header
Authorization: Bearer wcm_….

Things to ask first
- «Why is my webhook failing and how do I fix it?»
- «Create an appointment reminder template in English and submit it for approval.»
- «Write the Node code to reply to the messages that reach my webhook.»
- «Create a webhook to my server, test it and tell me if it arrived.»
- «How many messages can my new number send today?»
Who it's for
For people who build with AI (Lovable, Bolt, Cursor, Claude) and need WhatsApp without reading Meta's docs, and for the integrator or reseller who wants to check and set up their whole account from their AI. A reseller's end customers don't get access.
Can my AI read my conversations?
No. The MCP doesn't read or store message content: it sees the account's setup, not the chats.
Can it write to my customers?
No. The only message it can send is a test one, to your own numbers or to the test phones you add in the dashboard, up to 10 a day and always with your confirmation.
Does it cost extra?
No. It's included in every plan and in the free trial. What your AI uses (ChatGPT, Claude) you pay to them, as usual.
Can it break something?
Every change is prepared first, shows you what it will do and waits for your confirmation. Only the owner or an admin can confirm changes; with a member role, the AI only looks. The account owner can turn it off or disconnect each AI from the dashboard.
