Since 1989 I've been doing more or less the same thing, even as the channel changed several times over: getting systems to talk to each other.

I started studying Electronic Engineering at UTN. I got to fifth year and left to build software, mixing hardware and software. Five years ago I enrolled again —in Electronics and Systems at the same time—, did three more years and earned the degree of University Technician in Electronics.

In 2001 I built satellite vehicle-tracking systems, the hardware and the software, back when Google Maps didn't exist yet. Then came Linux and messaging: an SMS gateway connecting phones over serial ports with code in Perl, and on top of it notifiers, alerts and interactive systems.

In mid-2009 I reverse-engineered the MSN Messenger protocol to build a Linux client, and ended up building a customer-service agent on top of that network: a rudimentary AI that broke conversations down into intents. Years before you could buy that off the shelf.

With Android came systems for businesses: work orders for repair shops and tire shops, process control, quoting tools. All with WhatsApp integrated. From there to bots with DialogFlow, and to assistants with OpenAI over the last three years.

Along the way there were detours: I assembled arcade machines with Raspberry Pi and built educational robots with Arduino, in both cases before they caught on.

WAIA was born from a practical problem: each assistant took as long to integrate against the client's CRM as it took to build. They needed a home of their own. Today WAIA serves real customers every day.

Connect is the last piece. Meta authorized me so other companies can join the WhatsApp Business Platform through my product, and the infrastructure that already moved WAIA's messages could now be opened up as an API, Coexistence included.

When I'm not on this, I head out trekking in the Sierras de Córdoba.
