How do I keep Meta from banning my WhatsApp number?
Warm the number up for a few days before you connect it, use it the way a person uses WhatsApp, and don't blast a thousand messages on day one. Most takedowns hit new numbers with high volume and no history.
How many messages can I send from a brand-new number?
Meta lets you START conversations with 250 new people a day at first. Replying to someone who wrote to you doesn't count and has no cap. They're two different things and almost everyone mixes them up.
Can I use WhatsApp on my phone and connect it to an API at the same time?
Yes. It's called Coexistence, it's official from Meta, and it means the owner keeps answering from the phone app while your system works in parallel on the same number. Nothing to migrate.
What happens if I leave the phone turned off?
If you connected with Coexistence, the number drops off. Not instantly, but after a few days without the app being opened WhatsApp cuts the link and you stop sending and receiving over the API.
Why can't I send if my number shows as connected?
It's almost always one of three: the 24-hour window closed, the payment method is missing from your Meta account, or the business isn't verified. "Connected" means the link is alive, not that Meta will let you start conversations.
What is WhatsApp's 24-hour window?
When a customer messages you, a 24-hour window opens and inside it you can reply whatever you want. Once it closes, you can only send an approved template. It's a WhatsApp rule and no provider can skip it.
Does Meta charge me separately from what I pay the platform?
Yes, and they're two independent payments. You pay the platform for infrastructure; you pay Meta for the messages, with your own card in your own Meta account. A platform's free trial is not a free trial from Meta.
What is a WhatsApp template and when do I need one?
It's a message written in advance and approved by Meta, with slots for the variable parts. You need one when you want to write first, or when more than 24 hours have passed since the customer's last message.
Is it safe to use an unofficial WhatsApp library?
It works, it's free, and the risk is that Meta takes your number down — without warning and with no practical appeal. If the number is your business's, the maths is different than if it's disposable.
